The Peachtree Corridor Partnership Seeks Public Input on a Proposal to Improve Peachtree
The Peachtree Corridor Partnership has introduced a proposal for implementation of the recommendations of the Peachtree Corridor Taskforce: a vision consisting of streetscapes, public space, pocket parks, and transportation improvements that will transform Atlanta’s signature street into a world-class boulevard. The Partnership has proposed that the project be initiated by a modern streetcar system along the Downtown and Midtown segments of Peachtree, including a Downtown, east-west circulator route.

Learn more about the Peachtree Corridor Task Force Final Report and Peachtree Corridor Partnership recommendations
In November 2005, Mayor Shirley Franklin asked Tom Bell, Chairman & CEO of Cousins Properties to chair and Egbert Perry (Chairman & CEO of The Integral Group) to co-chair the Peachtree Corridor Task Force. The goal of the Task Force was to create the vision and develop strategic recommendations to transform the Peachtree Corridor into a foremost destination for Atlanta’s visitors and residents. In March 2007 the Task Force released a 25-year, $1 billion plan of improvements for the 14-mile corridor, which extends from the Beltline crossing of Lee Street in the south to Club Drive and the Atlanta city limits in the north.
The Peachtree Corridor Partnership is a joint effort between the Atlanta Development Authority, the Atlanta Committee for Progress and the three community improvement districts operating along Peachtree Street (including the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District). The Partnership has worked together and with corridor and city stakeholders to develop a plan for how to fund and implement the vision. A number of suggested options for funding Peachtree Corridor investments have been explored. Once implementation strategies are determined, a modern streetcar system could be operational within Downtown within 3 1/2 years.
