Downtown’s Ambassador Force®,
Clean Team Expand To Railroad District

Downtown AmbassadorStarting today, friendly faces and keen eyes trained on public safety and tidiness will begin focusing on the Railroad District, Downtown’s newest neighborhood, as the Ambassador Force® of Downtown Atlanta and the Clean Team began operations in the newly annexed 20 block area south of Five Points.

“Property owners in the Railroad District approached the Board of the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) about a year ago and asked if we would consider expanding into the neighborhood,” said A.J. Robinson, President of Central Atlanta Progress and ADID. “We looked at the potential of the district and the long-term impact on Downtown’s growth trends and it appeared to be a good match for our next expansion.”

This is the second expansion of the ADID since its inception in 1996 when Ambassador Force® coverage started in the then 120-block area. In 2000, the ADID expanded northward at the request of commercial property owners and encompassed the area south of North Avenue (now known as SoNo), Centennial Place and The Coca-Cola Company campus, thereby increasing the size of the ADID to 200 blocks. The addition of the Railroad District will increase the ADID to 220 blocks which covers almost the entire central Downtown area.

“We see great opportunity in the pedestrian scale of this new neighborhood, much as we have in the Fairlie-Poplar historic district,” said Robinson. “We are pleased to be expanding and the property owners are delighted to have the Ambassadors and Clean Team. Our Force has an incredible reputation for making employees, visitors, residents and conventioneers feel welcome, comfortable and safe in Downtown.”

“The Ambassador Force will have walking beats that will be patrolled on a daily schedule – 7:30 a.m.-12:00 a.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-12:00 a.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.-10:00 p.m. on Sunday,” said Robinson. He went on to say that, as circumstances dictate for events and other gatherings throughout the district, the regular patrol schedules can change based on needs.
